The jaunty alpha-6 live CD does not seem to have this problem anymore,
although I have not been able to test this for very long or with the
applications I usually run.
To give this some more proper testing, is there perhaps a way I can
install the jaunty version of the xorg drivers on my intrepid

I can confirm this issue using an old Hardy system, though I'm not
entirely sure where the problem lies or whether the breakage is
intentional (ie, the SSL library is now enforcing some policy).
Using firefox-3.0 and firefox-3.1 on jaunty, I get "security library:
improperly formatted DER-encoded

mythtv. I believe that this is a supported configuration.
User frontend is a member of group mythtv.
This is however not enough for user frontend to be able to read
