I can see why this would cripple the upstream reporting, but why does it
affect apport? It should create a .crash report unconditionally,
without prompting the user, because this is a local operation. apport

OK calibrate works with the cursor in current directory, but only the X

This patch adds a check if the symlink target actually exists before
setting the version. This should be ok because set_linked_version is
just one source to find the right version (next are set_highest_version

After "sudo apt-get update" I do see 5u15, however, even after running
"sudo apt-get install --reinstall x11-common", "sudo aptitude reinstall
