This problem is almost certainly solved in Jaunty. There were some
specific bug fixes in upstream kvm around this very issues.
Could you try to reproduce this problem in Jaunty?

This turned out to be a bug in the CD images not recommending the server
input drivers. Closing the kernel task out.

As I am (and I'm sure this is so for many systems) the sole user of my
system, there is no need what so ever for these warning screens and
certainly not for the delay question before shutting down or restarting.

ln -s /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.3 /usr/lib/libdbus-1.so.2
plus a reboot.
