and then attach /var/log/apport.log here?

Trying to change the lcd brightness via FN keys or brightness applet or
'manually' (/usr/lib/hal/scripts/hal-system-lcd-set-brightness) does not work.
When I use the hal script i get the error: 10: hal-functions: not found.
