removal, you do not even need to use a real one, but simply touch them:

Oh, you are saying notify-osd turns non-default timeouts into dialog
boxes? That's wrong, since the dialog boxes won't go automatically the
same way than notification bubbles go.
Arguably the usage should be fixed in gnome-mount, but in jaunty it's
almost impossible to collect the list of applicat

just a simple notification, it doesn't have actions, so there is no
"dialog" involved here.

Why is it not an option? The semantics are that of a Depends, unless
pbuilder-dist is packaged separately. It is not solely a Recommends.
The binary is unusable without debootstrap.

You mean it doesn't pick up Fn+Up/Down, or no key at all? In the latter
case, you are using the wrong input device. Are you trying this from a
text console (Ctrl+Alt+F1)? Are you sure you got the right input device?
