First, why replace at all? Whether it's formatted correctly ought not

Perhaps, but why did SuSE Enterprise not hang during boot like I
mentioned? Taking a look at the website from Novell (owner of SLED), it
seems that they are using 2.6.16. So only the more recent kernels have
this issue.

some reason for not updating to 1.8.9 which has been available since

Ok, I have more information. I don't think it's a problem specifically
in the audio system, but I don't know where to recategorize it.
Something is hijacking the system. I've noticed that when
pulseaudio/rhythmbox stutters, my typing also lags for a split second. I

Why invalid? It appears that the upstream is aligned with the Ubuntu
version now and you guys work and comment on both Debian and Launchpad
trackers. I agree that it is a waste of time and resources to have the
