I just thought I would mention that I also get this error, and have been
getting it for several months.
Like Daniel said, it does not always happen. I just tried it twice on
the same file and got the error once and not the other time. However,
it is repeatable in a single nedit sessio

Same problem as everyone above. Hitting Alt-F4 closes the Terminal
Server window and returns mouse click abilities.

best way would be to file a wishlist report at bugs.kde.org) The Kubuntu
team doesn't have the resources to make modifications like these on our
own, so upstream would be the best place to file such a wishlist item.
