here vlc does not have problems with any of my media files. vlc dies

misleading.
If you want to revoke a sign you should only press the button "revoke a
signature".

I had to add the "FramebufferCompression" "off" to the monitor section

NetworkManager is running, it will destroy my resolvconf symlink and

In intrepid + 4.2 g-p-m is still the power manager. However in jaunty + 4.2 it
is changed to powerdevil.
To try out power devil on intrepid, you can remove g-p-m from the
system; make sure powerdevil is installed, and add a battery monitor
widget to eg. your panel.
