Levy you should use nvidia drivers provided from Ubuntu repo. It is much
easier because it is synced with kernel updates. If you use dev Ubuntu
version you should always check if there is any conflict before you

I just tested keyboard shortcuts on Jaunty Alpha 4 (KDE 4.2), and they
work. That is, I assigned Alt+F1 to the K menu, and Alt+X to Konsole,
and those shortcuts work as expected.
It's still annoying that KDE keyboard shortcuts are broken in Intrepid,

Acting on mvo's prompting, I checked in ccsm, and the Gnome
Compatibility plugin was *not* enabled.
Enabling it fixed Alt+F1 and Alt+F2, but not Alt+F6.

I tried a livecd of Ubuntu Jaunty (alpha 4), and I have exactly the same
problem during the boot menu (language selction, "try without changing
anything", "install"…).
It works in bios, it doesn't work in grub or in livecd boot menu, it
works once ubuntu is launched (livecd or installed).
