The restart notification did showed up and I closed firefox to reopen
it. However, I had an open window/instane of firefox in a different
desktop and that's why the "restart" wasn't truly a restart, and it
had passed some time after I has submitted the "bug" until i figurred
it out!

The fix for redmage123 is to use "d-i console-setup/layoutcode string
us" rather than obsolete preseeding based on kbd-chooser. However, it
would be nice if we had a more graceful default.

Bryce, I had a minute to try out the latest alpha live CD on my 855 with
UXA. It was a big improvement for me. I've updated the matrix. It wasn't
extensive testing. I had compiz and UXA running for as long as it takes
to install Jaunty + an additional 20 minutes or so. No lockups.

Try to set another GTK Style in your System-Settings.
Use the option "Use another Style" instead of the option "Use my KDE style in
GTK appllications".
This workaround should prevent that FF crashes randomly.
You could use "Human-Clearlooks" for example.
