I can confirm the freezing often / graying out of Firefox. Hardy 8.04
and Firefox 3.0.5 on Quad Core machine with 3GB RAM. Happens only
sometimes with some websites -- I can't find a pattern or common feature
of the sites. I ran "top" in an always-on-top terminal in an attempt to

commented out the load lines for OSS in the alsa-drivers package. This

on a fresh install of Intrepid, my macbook international keyboard is
incorrectly configured. Trying to change the 'keyboard model' in the
'keyboard preferences dialog results in an error message. I tried
several layouts without finding the one I previously used on Hardy.

I'm using this modified package for months on our mail server, and we did not

Well, if nothing else you can just grab the source package for xserver-
xorg-video-ati and build it against the Intrepid xserver to produce the
debs you need.
I'm subscribing tormod to this bug; he may be willing to help you in

Brightness control doesn't work with linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic. The
indicator shows up when using the hot keys, but the brightness itself
doesn't actually change as indicated by the on-screen indicator.

Which virtualization solution are you using? VirtualBox, VMWare? With
VirtualBox atleast, you will have to enable the sound card when you
create a new VM. Remember, your VM sees none of the native hardware. All
that it sees are the ones shown by your virtualization solution.

b. The print preview shows only the left upper top of the picture being
printed.
c. When I print to a PDF file, it comes out about as large as in the preview.
