Relating to the update and the bug 319508, I have attached a backtrace
from gdb. Hope it helps.
As of now, is downgrading the package a good option? Which version
should I downgrade to?

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.27-11-generic
Hi all,
after updating to 2.6.27-11 from "intrepid-proposed", the backlight brightness
control on my Lenovo Thinkpad X300 won't work.
If starting the system with earlier versions like 2.6.27-9, there's no problem
to change
Thats right, but pressing f11 dont fix at all the bug on the status bar in
firefox.
I found a fix, first go to system , then preference and then compiz setting
manager go there to windows decoration option and unchek restart your pc do the
same to go compiz setting manager and check back wind
There are no news. It was not working with 8.10. The machine is being used by a
person who is new to Linux - that's why it is running a different distribution
now, because this issue was a major blocker for the user.
As I cannot contribute to this any more you can close this bug again.
