I just experienced the same issue. Interestingly it went away after I
retried to connect...
Perhaps this has something to do with an invalid certificate? I just found this

I seem to be hitting this one too.
As far as I can tell, it seems to just be the flash plugin crashing---
taking the pulse audio daemon with it (hanging at least, anyway.) I've
found the bug quickest to reproduce by putting flash under heavy or
constant load, but leaving it open for a while works

My ubunutu 8.04 was upgrades to 8.10 now Brasero will not burn anything.
It won't report media disk space correctly, it reports zero
It doesn't detect disk type.
So do we have to wait until Jaunty for a fix, no burning until then?

I'll try and get packages built tonight (Canada eastern time). I was
just looking at the upstream bug tracker again and it looks like they
have a real fix working for the 2.6 intel driver so hopefully that's in
the next ubuntu release. I'll try alpha 3 and see if it works or at vary
lest if I can
