Yes, it recommends it, but doesn't depend on it, so it's still

I was able to scp this version of user-setup-apply into today's Jaunty
server amd64 iso and create a user with an encrypted home directory
successfully, complete the installation, reboot, and login to my
encrypted home directory.

Hi,
I have made it work under 8.10, recompiling pcscd for libusb instead of
libhal. It seems that the driver needs access to the libusb structures.
In fact, in the latest version for EZUSB (1.4.6) readme points out that
using pcscd compiled with libhal won't work.
