sorry, my suggestions were for Intrepid, for Hardy you should follow the
complete instructions at the above mentioned forum thread. There are
some changes you have to make to your xorg.conf in Hardy that are no
longer possible in Intrepid because of the very minimal xorg.conf.
That's why
Marco, one more thing about the xbindkeys: this will only work if you
manage to setup the mediakeys so that they simulate mouse buttons 17-20.
That's what the 'b:' means in the .xbindkeysrc. You can manage this on
Hardy with changes to xorg.conf or on Intrepid with the xinput-
workaround.

I'm pleased to report that Intrepid, at least with 2.6.27-10-generic
(which I think may be from the backports repo?) does not show any signs
of dock-related suspend problems. Now I hope someone will be able to
backport the fix to Hardy for those poor souls who stuck with L
The "tv-out" option under Totem's preferences menu is still inactive for
me (greyed out), both before and after I install nvtv from Synaptic.
This was also true for ubuntu 8.04 and 7.10. I know the Tv-out works on
my machine as I use nvidia-settings to create a "Second X Screen" and
watch video's
I think it is a bug in the intel graphics driver (try out vesa for
that).

Same here on a Dell XPS M1330 with up-to-date Ubuntu 8.10 after fiddling
with power management settings (hdparm stuff). The brightness applet
(using mouse) works fine, but through the Fn-keys the display dims all
the way down (if not hitting up fast). ctrl+F1 and then back to ctrl7
works fine.

Seems to be the same issue. Except my monitor doesn't dim - it goes into

You are right, if I delete my /etc/network/interfaces there is no delay
on booting. But this is not a solution because you need the file for
configuring the network interfaces. I don't want to use the network
manager and I think the Ubuntu network should not depend on it.

using thinkfinger-tools and pam - KDM crash after swipe out or put
