Nevermind, I figured out how to create an LUKS+LVM encrypted Ubuntu
install using the
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EncryptedFilesystemLVMHowto
instructions.
The last step must be slightly modified, and a few more steps are
necessary to create the LVM.
Instead of "cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sda
I'll make an upstream task. It doesn't want to be packaged separately.
Many of the stamps are already in the main set. The rest should be
added if acceptible. However I don't believe the licensing.

installed latest network-manager from ppa and still got same issue:
openvpn connects OK but after few seconds nm creates Auto tap0
connection under wired tab and starts querying ip via dhcp which kills
ip already assigned to tap0 by openvpn server.

Sounds to me like bug 225973, however it is also possible that the 2nd

I also confirm the bug. Note, I've changed my Desktop switching keys to
Alt-F{1-4}, so it now overrides standard Alt-F1 for Menu. I set Ctrl-F1

I am not sure that it is the same. Jsteinhart's fix only partially fixed
the problem for me, but it sounds like it was successful for most of the
people there.

I, too have been experiencing this bug with Ubuntu Intrepid.
Jsteinhart's fix appears to partially fix the problem. Before installing
the fix, when I attempted to play a flash video after a suspend cycle it
would play for a few seconds then stop, with no sound. When I switched

Ah this seems to be a duplicate of the SATA drive 64bit issue..

I confirm. Same packages version.
I also get errors that in English would sound like 'unable to detect
certificate type', when trying to import certificates from a file. That ends up
with a failure in verifying the email signature.
