Now brasero has deleted my files twice! Of course I thought I did
something wrong the first time, but the second try also made my files
disappear ON MY HARD DRIVE.
(Also, when brasero is checking port, it's always closed, even if I
forwarded it. This worked earlier.)

As another partial workaround, you can use the keyboard bindings for
moving and resizing. It appears that only moving and resizing with the
mouse is constrained.
Press alt-space to open up the window menu, and press M for move or R

Ok, I am now able to exactly reproduce the crash.
Here are the steps to follow:
1) Start up ubuntu 8.04.1 in my laptop
2) open Nautilus file manager
3) navigate until I reach a .tex file
4) right click -> Open with --> Open with Kile

Logitech USB wireless keyboard worked fine until a memory upgrade

This is because the capital F in the path (... /Music/F ... ).

Err, sorry, jet-lag thinko there.
This patch changes a file *only* included for backwards compatibility
with certain parts of the installer, and other pieces we don't know
about.
Patching it for new functionality is explicitly wrong.
What is broken by not including this patch? Or did you just g

Hi,
I just made a "diff" sourcing the "right" dmesg output and the "wrong"
one, the results are:
WRONG boot (altgr not working):
[...]
input: AT Raw Set 2 keyboard as /devices/platform/i8042/serio0/input/input1

It's a fault in how some of the Fn keys don't send the key release code,
making the OS think that the key is being held down. I have submitted a
patch to the kernel which fixes this issue, allowing the Fn keys
(including brightness) to be used properly.
