Installing ntfs-config does not clear up the problem.
As far as I am aware ntfs-config is a utility for mounting NTFS
partitions, so yes you will be able to mount the partition using ntfs-
config as a workaround but this does not offer a fix for the bug.

HP support's response to me was that they don't support linux on
Pavilions, period, so I'm not sure how likely it is that this will be
fixed by them other than accidentally.

could you run evolution from the command line as : evolution >&
output.txt and attach the resulting file to the report ?thanks.

Now I have to put (font-backend . "xft") into my default-frame-alist
with a recent build from emacs CVS. That is, it complains about non-
string values for this parameter
