Actually, I just saw my desktop running Jaunty do this, on
2.6.28-2-generic. The MythTV frontend froze, and so did my SSH session.
I couldn't resolve the machines IP from its .local name, but it
responded to pings to its IP address. After a couple minutes, everything
unfroze.

Well the problem is that the original kde4 installation (beta 1) contains more
icon files from oxgene theme. Koffice-data-kde4 package also contains some
icons that have the same name and installation path. So apt prevent them to be
overwritten.
You can find the conflicting icon files on the deb
Added floppy to /etc/modules and the floppy is added to the /dev
directory. I insert a floppy before starting up the computer and it
auto mounts the floppy. If I add the floppy after bootup I have to sudo
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy0.

unfortunately the workaround made the situation even worse.
If I resume from suspend, Ubuntu tries to connect to the WLAN: One of
the two bubbles is green, the other one is gray and the animation is
rolling. If I click on the WLAN icon, the whole computer freezes and I

To manager your network manually,
First to edit (as root) /etc/NetworkManager/nm-system-settings.conf:
[ifupdown]
managed=true
then edit your /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/resolv.conf for your IP
and name server.
Confirming that a downgrade to Hardy xorg packages resolves the issue.

It happens only when I use a launcher on the desktop (with StartupNotify=true).

workarounds in there, in fact it seems that latest intrepid kernel
already has the module compiled and working. Further details at the bug
