I have a HP Pavilion dv6000 with a BCM4312 card, I normally use a
Linksys WUSB54GC because the bcm driver (with b43-fwcutter) didn't quite
work for me.
I noticed the Broadcom STA driver so I tried it, after a while, the
whole computer freezes with a blinking caps lock.

On amd64, pidgin segfaults whenever signals-test.pl is active and a
signal is triggered (e.g. message sent/received). No perl plugins that

It cannot break anything in Intrepid, as the patch is from Nov 19. which
is after Intrepid release.
But in general, this localize() function only localizes the data
structure in memory or does it replace the queue's globalized PPD by a
single-language one?

I am also seeing this behaviour, and have seen it since Gutsy 7.10. I am
using the same version of Intrepid and Pidgin listed above, as installed
from the Alternate CD.
As a workaround, you can do the following -- but the root cause should
really be triaged and fixed:
-Open Pidgin and log on to Y
Correction: The proper work around is:
-Open Pidgin and log on to Yahoo! (or whatever messenger service you use)
-Open the buddy list
-Navigate 'Buddies' > 'Show' > check 'Offline Buddies'
-Navigate 'Buddies' > 'Show' > uncheck 'Offline Buddies'

To fix the problem, temporaly, you should reboot from the last kernel,
in this case, the 2.6-24-21 until an update will be available. That's
the solution that Angel Sanchez sugest.
