version of Ubuntu 8.10 it crashed and would not run, that is start. So I
uninstalled it in Windows Vista Home Basic and reinstalled
Wubi-selfextract.exe from http://wubi-installer.org/devel.minefield. I then

Using Kubuntu 8.10, i386 architecture, I can confirm the bug. This has
happened to me twice while attempting to write and subsequently verify a

I have had a very similar problem on my system. I have found out that
skype, which was in the "Session Preferences" -> "Startup Programs",
must have started before the pulseaudio session. And thus blocked it...
Chainging skype to use the pulseaudio driver resolved that problem.

After I sent a "love letter" to realtek, they sent me updated drivers

Note that the behaviour in Hardy is different: there the "gvfs-fuse-
deamon" line in gnome-system-monitor indicates that the actual number of
bytes that are Total/Available/Free/Used in the /home/my_name/.gvfs
