I have just upgraded my Ubuntu boxes from Hardy to Intrepid. One of
them appears to have a problem with NetworkManager -- the problem is new
this machien worked fine with Hardy.
Booting happens fine (except for a NIS problem but that is for another

Turns out I could correct this by adjusting the monitor calibration

I beleive this is a long standing bug (Hardy, Feisty, Gutsy, . . ) but
it still has not been fixed in Intrepid. Intrepid boots fine to the
point at which it is trying to connect to the NIS server (which is
running). After a while the attempt times out and the boot continues
I fixed the double startup problem in /etc/init.d/rc, will report the issue
there.
The startup race with NetworkManager persists, though, so this was nto the
issue.

The code to do this has certain assumptions built in. like a name always

Hi
No the machine was directly connected to a cable modem at the time, i have
done 9 installations to test diferent configurations and the issue only
seems to show up when i add the wine repository from wine HQ and install
wine. when i leave wine out i dont get the issue
