without crash without this plug-in, but crashes occur every half-hour or
so with the Tomboy plug-in activated.

there is no need to start a GNOME session, could you try if you have the
issue using other GTK applications though?

AFAIK, Intrepid switched from the "external" gspca drivers to the new
drivers that were recently added to the vanilla kernel. This is IMHO a
good thing, since it guarantees that future kernel releases will carry
the driver. On the downside, the "new" kernel drivers lack the module
parameters of the
Will try tonight !

I have packaged IPython already, but currently I am waiting for foolscap
(a newly introduced dependency) to enter Debian unstable (it's currently
in the new queue).
However, you can download the package (including foolscap) from my
personal package archive over at http://archive.sp-its.at. You can
looks like #275392 is related - reports of static noise when using pulseaudio,
and it looks like they were when PCM was muted.
This bug should probably be against pulseaudio, not the kernel.
