I talked about this issue with the uvcvideo maintainer. It seems it is
strictly connected with gstreamer's v4l2src switch to libv4l2. Anyway he
came up with a patch that fixes it, or at least fixes mine. He will
commit it to his branch on linuxtv.org soon, I'll keep you updated.

When I connect my older CRT, without running any commands, my X server

installed 4 other splash images via synaptic, but the only one that

It's not so much that the file chooser is foreign, it's that it's clunky
and not as configurable as KDE's. I'm a "naive just-use-it computer
user" and I'd love to see this implemented.

Sadly, having had a few days experience with this, I must now report
that the `solution' is not perfect. If I hibernate or suspend the
laptop, when it wakes up the fan does its old on for a while, off for a
second behaviour. I notice though that i8kmon shows 0 degrees for the
temp after the wakeup,

Sorry, don't have them any more. I haven't used the applet again, and
don't want to. The applet appeared, I tried it, it failed as described
above. Many changes have happened since, and I have a happily running
Intrepid system.
