Had the same problem using the e169 from virgin but got it to work by
manually editing the connection settings and changing the APN and
turning off CHAP.
The mobile broadband setup wizard puts in the APN as "VirginInternet"
but the Virgin website says it is "VirginBroadband", once this was
changed

Actually, I have to retract my statement. Hardy recently updated the
linux headers I believe, and after a power outage last night, I am

Ok I got a work around so my logitech gamepad now works on kubuntu 8.10
perfectly.
I did configure the axis' via systemsettings first.
Then I created this file "DualActionGamepad.fdi" (attached)
and copied it to /etc/hal/fdi/policy/
and restarted hal via /etc/init.d/hal restart (or reboot).

A temporary stop-gap fix might be to pick a single value from /dev/urandom and
use it for every write of the random pass, instead of picking a different value
for every write.
Of course, every random pass must pick it's own value to strengthen the process.
This is fixed by installing policykit-gnome. policykit suggests
policykit-gnome, but it looks like either policykit or jockey-kde should depend
on it (or depend on a virtual package that is provided by policykit-gnome and
the equivalent KDE package which apparently hasn't been created yet).

I think I may be experiencing this behaviour.
I have two interfaces managed by ifupdown, and WLAN and 3G interfaces
managed by nm. If neither of the nm managed interfaces is 'up', there is
no systray icon, but nm-applet is running. Could this just be an icon
display issue ?

the bug you mention was not fixed in hardy but has been fixed in
intrepid, you should comment on bugzilla.gnome.org if you have issue due
to the change though

Also broken on my E6400. Neither suspend to RAM nor suspend to disk are working
with Ubuntu 8.10 beta. The machine is suspending and shutting down, but crashes
on resume (magic-sysreq keys don't work) in either case.
