xserver-xorg-video-radeon_6.9.0+git20080930.c359c2a3-0ubuntu0tormod_i386.deb
from Tormod's PPA.
Now xv is fine, and Xorg doesn't consume so high CPU.
Although "(II) RADEON(0): XAA Render acceleration unsupported on Radeon
9500/9700 and newer. Please use EXA instead." is still in x
fixed upstream, thanks for reporting.

Yes, it is fully installed (see screenshot)
The thing is that the Applications/Places/System menus, and the GDM screen,
appear in Spanish in the Live CD.
It is only when installed, that the menus are back to English.

Now that may be a fair remark there Kjell,
still this bug is repeatable and on a system with ubuntu repositories
only. Although many of these being from universe and/or multiverse. Also
the hardware is working correctly unless you can tell me which piece of
hardware is not and say what stress test

Just started again and for just a second I could see something like:
sda not a valid superblock magic
Maybe the raid assembling procedure is buggy? And therefor a following
LVM setup may have problems to complete.
What kind of information is necessary to help you? Is it able to
"switch" the init

My ATI 9600SE card broke long time ago.

As a work round on real hardware:
1/ Open Places->Home.
2/ In the Nautilus window Right click on the cd in the upper left pane.
3/ Select Unmount rather than eject.
4/ Then double click the cd which will remount it and trigger the addon cd tool.
5/ Run as normal.
