It seems that, at least the Hardy packages, are compiled against
libarchive instead of libzip, which makes ark not work for zip files.

[intrepid] kmail crash
This bug seems to have been fixed in the latest update, at least for me.
Thanks!
Kate now reports "Version 3.1.1" and "Using KDE 4.1.1 (KDE 4.1.1)"
Synaptic reports "kate-kde4" version "4:4.1.1-0ubuntu1~hardy1~ppa1"
(using "deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-members-kde4/ubuntu/ hardy main")
--
I can also confirm that if you use the hardy package, it all works
again. Whatever changes happened between hardy and intrepid for this
package cause it to be completely busted.

Where/how is this fixed for Hardy? It is impossible to open a 727Kb
OpenOffice styles.xml file in Gedit or Bluefish. CPU on both goes to 97%
on a 2.4Ghz/1GB machine and stays that way until the process is killed.
