When I want to restart my machine, I click on System -> Shutdown and select
Restart, but nothing visually happens. In fact, the machine doesn't restart at

I tried the Intrepid Alpha 4 CD (desktop amd64). After a normal boot
(select language, select run from live cd), I was able to follow the
boot process on the terminal screen (ctrl-alt-f1). Everything went OK
until starting gdm: black screen, TFT light flashing (indicating an
incorrect mode). I lsmo

On a 1024x600 display, when KDM (KDE 4 version) is started with the
default oxygen theme, the background image only fills the center of the
screen (maybe 800 pixels) wide. On the edges, random noise is displayed.

The better fix would be to install the skeleton file in /usr/share/jay
and let jay look there for it.
