I have had the same message displayed for a system using an AMD K6 III
(i586) running at 450Mhz on an ASUS P5A motherboard.
Daily build of 08/08/08 had the same problem.
The system is running a fully updated 8.04 at present and has no problem
with any past or current kernel for 8.04

it turns out that the unresponsiveness is related to the wireless drivers for
the Intel 3945 device. By keeping a terminal with:

Hi! I tried to obtain backtraces, but I couldn't.

Well I gave Jan's hack a try and it didn't work for me, then I went back
to Raymonds hack and it worked. Seems to me like this is mostly just a
dependency problem, the kio-umountwrapper should depend on dophin and
libkonq4 that would keep this from happening. At least that is my
2cents worth. Ho

Martin, this change forces all frontends to recomment libxine1-ffmpeg.
Without it, most commongly used media won't play.
I wonder why the installer tries to install libxine1-ffmpeg in the first
place. It shouldn't be on the CD anyways because of unsatifiable

enabled and it works fine here, which video card do you have? and also
which driver are you using? that probably is a video issue rather than a

I am having the same problem, also on 8.04, but in connection with
postfix-ldap wanting to be upgraded. It turned out that I had some gusty
archives in my software sources lists used by the package tools because
the machine was an upgrade to 8.04 not a fresh install.
