I have successfully switched to metacity in Gnome, and realised also
that switching to compiz fixes the problem. However, doing this now
applies the WM to KDE as well.
Both Gnome and KDE are sharing the same WM. I would expect that metacity
is only used for Gnome, and kwin is only used for KDE (ie

When starting my computer I get to the ubuntu splash screen, then to a light
brown screen and then it becomes a hint darker and locks up. I can't get to
TTY1-6 but it's possible to do a Ctrl-Alt-Bkspace though it won't get me to the

(>= 1.0.7); libxapian-dev comes from xapian-core and xapian-core 1.0.7-3

Kubuntu 8.04 comes with OpenOffice.org 2.4 and that version doesn't support the

This isn't a bug, is just a feature that OpenOffice.org 2.4 don't
