You can make VMware use ALSA instead of OSS by doing teh followng
things:
(all as root, of course)
1. apt-get install alsa-oss
2. chmod u+s /usr/lib/libaoss.so*
3. Stop all the vmware daemons, for vmware server this can be done with
'/etc.init.d/vmware stop'.
It might be different with vmw

UPDATE: The system beep starting acting up before the message: "Loading
files necessary to boot" (or something like that) and after an error
message about "VBE". I've tried to duplicate event again (the beeping,
not the VBE message, I keep getting that, but that's not what this

On Hardy:
When using sqsh interactively, it works fine, and doesn't output any _XmStrings
error
The _XmStrings issue only seems to appear when attempting to pipe in commands
from a file, either by using the "-i" switch, or piping the file into sqsh.
When that occurs, sqsh only outputs the message

This happened to me too. The panel dissapeared, the login sound played,
and then the panel reappeared. There is 100% reproducability (at least
for me) because this happens EVERY time I switch NVIDIA accelerated
graphics drivers (between 173 and 177)

I own a PC-Chips M811LU motherboard, at least to what I remember. My
problem is the hibernate does not work to anything that I tried on the
forums.
1. I hit hibernate pc seems to be saving to the drive Pc turns off.
2. I hit the power button on the tower again. Pc turns on,

Hey, so I just made a piczo site and it looks so awesome but it seemed
that something was missing. Than I realized I should add some music so
my friend recommended a really cool site.www.hypster.com. It's so quick
and easy,anyone could do it! In a matter of minuets I had made a account
and uploaded
I'm experiencing the same bug, and reseting the keyboard applet did
nothing.
