You are very likely correct. I don't recall having used Open Office on
that desktop since the last update " that included material" for Open
Office. I believe it worked prior to that update. I use Ubuntu with
Gnome. I hope we find a solution soon, it gets old exporting to PDF so I
can print.

No luck with dapper. First the patch didn't apply correctly, and then it

I'm not on campus very often anymore so I can't test this easily now.
However, I can say that upgrading to Hardy did NOT eliminate the
problem. I cannot however speak for any updates to network-manager

Fix" status is a bit harsh I think in this scenario but we have limited
states for bug reports. It would be better if we had a "Resolved" state
which reflected you have a working solution bug we didn't modify any
code on our end

I can not install Intrepid Ibex alpha 3 because of this.

Hi Gaurish,
It's a little difficult for others to test especially since this seems
to be specific to the hardware you have. One thing to try might be to
test the most recent Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha release -
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . It is based on the upstream 2.6.26
kernel at the moment
Please verify that this is happening using the latest release (8-7).

the radeon driver detects 512MB but say, that only 256 mb are accessable...
This confuses me a little

I'm seeing slow disk transfers with Hardy (8.4.1) on a server. Windows
2003 server on older/slower hardware is performing better. I need to
improve the Ubuntu server performance! :)
Here are some examples of hdparm results on my Ubuntu Hardy server.
