Hello - I have a Lenovo T61P and running into the same issue mentioned
here. I am using the Hardy Heron Alternate CD (i386). I don´t get the
option to choose the other kernels though.
The installer points to logs in /var/log/syslog. I have attached this

(This is my first bug, so apologies if it is all wrong and in the wrong
place)
Downloaded the new Ubuntu Intrepid Alpha 1. Everything Installed Ok and
all the default Desktop Effects worked fine!
Then i ran, Sudo Apt-get update / upgrade, and it updated fine, and
reboote
I'm waiting a fix by upstream, there is a problem with startme binary,
it attempts to access programs which, for an upstream choice, have not
been installed. I also won't to make a better package (and possibly not
more different to the actual Debian package), so I'm also working on
this front.

number of fingers held down whilst a stroke is made.
Note, that not all Synaptics pads do support this, and that the even

When i play freecell, the application doesn't allow me to move a stack
to another valid stack until i make other arbitrary moves first.

After an upgrade of a completely fresh intrepid install I ran into the same
problem. Moving .kde / .kde4 directories didn't help.
Strace shows that kdostartupconfig tries to open a file from the .kde/
directory - the file however is created automatically in the .kde4 directory.
This is 3.5 code,
I have the same problem with a Radeon X1950PRO, it seems that the driver
is loaded fine but that GDM crashes. I found the following erros in
/var/log/gdm/:0.log
Exec failed for command "/tmp/firegl1.isse.0f00a7d0.486f90b3.000c86d9" (No such
file or directory)
Exec failed for command "/tmp/firegl1
Only works with sudo wireshark.

Is there a reason why you prefer Java 5 instead of 6 (in Build-Depends)?
Apart from that, /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun should get added to JAVA_HOME_DIRS, so
it builds with sun-java-6.
I will sponsor this (and can make the above mentioned adjustments myself), once
the dependency has been cleared from
