That is not what I meant. There is no official "awn-extras-applets"
package in the official Hardy or Intrepid repositories. The package
you're referring to is from a third-party repository, which is
unsupported by Ubuntu developers.

Somehow, and I am am not sure exactly how, I have managed to get a
working FF3 by installing rc2 from the Mozilla site. Then I reinstalled
OpenOffice and got it working, though with a display bug in the template
interface. Alas I am still no wiser as to what happened!

I can confirm this bug. If you use aclocal or autoreconf and
libsoundtouch1-dev is installed, you get this warning. The bug is fixed
in upstream version 1.3.1.
TEST CASE: run "touch configure.ac && aclocal" in an empty directory.

I have an Acer notebook with an Intel 945 video controller and I'm
trying to use an external monitor attached to the notebook. Howerver it
only seem to allow cloned screens.
I have tried opening gnome-display-properties, unchecking the "Clone
Screens" checkbox, and when I do
also when i look at a video via youtube in my browser and i move the
windows, then it does not ghost!

I am seeing this as well after an upgrade to 8.04 in OpenOffice when
select Open (a file):
$ openoffice
$
GLib-GObject-ERROR **: g_type_plugin_*() invalidly modified type `GFileInfo'
aborting...
And now OpenOffice is just hung with the File menu open and had to be
killed.
Restarting soffice.bi
I can verify this bug in Hardy Heron Ubuntu 8.04 too. There a
workarounds but I think this has to be fixed.

I'm not surprised that there is no [EMAIL PROTECTED] mode. I don't see where
that mode would come from.
There is a default mode for [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the Ubuntu supplement to
extramodes, however. I can't see in the log where defaultmodes are being
considered. They are seen clearly with my nv dr

System a runs vino-server.
System b establishes desktop sharing session.
As long as the session lasts, clipboard is misfunctional on both systems.
This means e.g:
