MOZILLA_FIVE_HOME environment variable set (some apps need this, ex.
those that use the Java SWT browser widget). The kompozer startup script
looks for a run-mozilla.sh script in the directory specified by

I've experienced this. This happens only in Ubuntu 8.04 though,
apparently due to newer kernels. The binary generated by freeze works OK

Hmm... I guess that $DEV check is supposed to disable UUID conversion
when $root (from $kopt) is a link to /dev/mapper/*. It will do the wrong
thing in this case if /boot is not on /dev/mapper (which is most cases

I have the same symptoms. KDE4.0.4 on Kubuntu Hardy AMD64. I have a
GeForce7600GS with the 169.XX drivers.
I did find something like a workaround, but it is a bit slow at best.
When logged in, try to log out. The logout popup box takes a lot of time
to load, but it appears eventually. Logging out

Yes, this is horribly broken in Ubuntu 8.04. I guess it would help if
power.sh does its settings _before_ it calls laptop_mode, so that
laptop_mode's settings will prevail. Please test the patch and report
whether it helps for you.

UUID doesn't work if you use ghost to image the disk and then restore it

It's mystery to me why some people can boot other distros with grub but
not Ubuntu. Anyway, the best workaround is to install grub for Windows
(see links above) in the windows partition. Wubi will do this
automatically by the way.

Hi ya to All
I ended up retiring my computer. I had an all in one type Motherboard
and had gotten a lot of use out of it over the years. It just up and
died last week.
