With trunk it causes Metacity to crash (it may well have done in earlier
situations too, since the session manager sees Metacity going down and
brings up another one, so crashes can be invisible). This is not a
happy situation. I'm escalating.

I am also able to reproduce this with the ultradock x4. Based on
http://alcopop.org/unix/linux/x40/dock/ I tried undocking using the
kernel's dock interface:
echo 1 > /sys/devices/platform/dock.0/undock
This did indeed cause the dock light to go off and the monitor to switch
back to the thinkpad
It works, but...
It's a little bit Flintstones about it... Were just wondering about the
priority of this bug, as I'll convinced that others use VMWare as well when

I think the /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup trick worked before because I had a
different version of virtualbox. Until the the virtualbox modules package is
updated, you can just boot up using the old linux kernel (2.6.24-17-generic) in
the GRUB boot menu (assuming that's how you're set up).
We believe this was fixed in gthumb 2.8.10 which has been released in
intrepid and hardy-updates. Please reopen if you still experience this
issue with the new version.

I have acer aspire 5720's Crystal Eye.
I noticed that if I run xawtv, it doesn't freeze like that with kernel messages
tvtime btw doesn't work with uvc driver at all, it just complains about
"too short video frames"

I applied the patch in that bug to the latest ubuntu source (-19), I had to
modify it a little to get it to work on this version of the source, and now my
laptop works when running on battery with a ubuntu kernel.
I think this patch needs to be applied to the ubuntu source in the fut

I added a line at the end of the script:
wineserver -k
when closing the ie6 window using X it will kill the running wineserver.

Thanks for the fix suggestion, McB. I tried it (based on a blog I found

The second to last line seems to expecting a source tarball. Since I
didn't install it from source, it doesn't seem to work.

I suspect this is due to a dying hard drive (which the installer is much
better at handling in newer versions of Ubuntu), but I cannot be sure
without full logs. Can you attach /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman
from a failed install attempt?
