Thanks for the link, I fixed the problem myself by altering xorg.conf.
Just in case someone does not know where to find it, its in /etc/X11/
Add the following lines to the "Device" section:

Hi Jergen,
You don't need to compile the package on the same box where you will use
it. Do as Bastian said on a temporary box and transfer the linux-
image-2.6.24-17-openvz_2.6.24-17.32_amd64.deb package where you'd like
to use it and install it with dpkg -i linux-
image-2.6.24-17-openvz_2.6.24-17

Ugh, that failed too. My current theory is that what really matters is
whether the machine is docked with USB devices connected at boot.
Apparently if I boot undocked, then dock, I can suspend/resume just
fine, but if I boot in the dock, suspend will fail unless I disconnect
my USB devices first.

To expand on what Leonid said, I also like it larger because it controls
the bottom of the main chat window above it, which I don't like to be
too low. Having a larger area for my typing helps to visually
