Motherboard is an Asus A8V-VM with a VT8251 AHCI/SATA controller.
Adding the "pci=nomsi" line indeed fixed the problem.

in ubuntu feisty the information for the speed-stepping was included in the
kernel (speedstep-centrino.ko) but now speedstepping is done by the module
acpi-cpufreq and this module does not provide the info for speedsteppi
Running krunner in a console starts the krunner program.
The weird thing is, hitting Alt+F2 on my laptop keyboard runs Krunner.
If I do an Alt+F2 on my USB keyboard (a new Apple Slim USB keyboard)
nothing happens. This worked in Gutsy with the same keyboard so I guess
the key mapping has changed i

As explained in comment above, at some point nautilus got 100%.Here's a
top output showing the issue. Didn't think of attaching gdb... Next time

I cannot access to file shared on the SMB network with Hardy. Nautilus

My Problem was caused by the proprietary hsfmodem driver which was still
present from gutsy and had renamed the original snd-intel-hda module.
Removing the hsfmodem driver solved the problem.

Confirming this for a Intel Corporation 82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio
Controller (rev 02).
(The Hardy release broke both my sound and video setup although it was
updated from a vanilla Gutsy. That's almost as bad as Gentoo when I
decided to switch to Ubuntu. ... maybe it's time for a bugfix relea

1. open up a terminal window
2. cd /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d
3. sudo gedit 99-power-state-fix.sh
4. paste this:

Note that the ov51x-jpeg is the task that is being proposed for
an SRU.
For ov5111 I haven't seen a full fix anywhere to propose, and there
is also considerations relating to bug 221806.
