I have now tried with Hardy, with strange results. It worked sometimes,
but other times (still) the cracking noise appeared. Now I tested it
more thoroughly so I'm not sure if anything has changed. In year 2007 it

I could reproduce the bug by reproducing the steps described by LKRaider on the
latest live cd (daily - 2008/04/19).
However I was unable to reproduce the bug that makes any window opens in
background (ie launch 'nautilus' by a shell, the focus will be kept by the

OMG, thank you. Because I did clean rc install, server defined in
software sources was local one for my region. As soon as I changed that
to main server I got 49 updates. -16-generic among them.
I had no idea that mirroring can create such a problem.

debian worked around this by just installing the docs that are already
built in the upstream tarball (they are not included in 0.0.12).
My attached debdiff rather changes the documentation system which does
not import the python modules (which is why the build-depends was
needed). I'll ask Julien

I have the following programs windows open on hardy heron latest, with all
updates:
Firefox Beta 5
Thunderbird
OpenOffice 2.4
When I click on the top of these windows to switch between them (quite
fast), the system freezes, I can't do anything anymore, nothing happens
on ctr
Loaded up live cd (Hardy release candidate) and encountered same or
similar bug. screen resolution was 800x600 restricted drivers manager
gave no option to use nvidia driver.
In a gutsy install my graphics hardware is detected as GeForce 6100
nForce 405, the gpu is integrated into the mainboard bt

It just happened again...
Looking in /var/crash revealed the same crash report as above, at the
same time of the system freeze, but the logs don't reveal much. One
thing I did notice was that most activity around the time of the crash
was networking stuff; I opened KSystemLog and looked at everyt
