A manual installation of libpam0g appears to fix the problem. I
experienced the same problem updating a gutsy -> hardy server this
evening. Updates were applied at 18:30+10 Saturday 12th April. Upgrade

My problem is solved - it was my own stupid fault.
I replaced /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf with an earlier copy, which had a
different array configuration in it. This meant that the initramfs
couldn't find the new array, because it wasn't in the config!

To clarify, the error message i got first at home was the same one i got the
next day at work.
Also, trying different sessions (gnome, gnome failsafe) instead of the default
one seemed to start triggering the xkb error on every boot, even though the
problem existed already for a week or so.

Is this bug going to be fixed in any way? It seems to be open for almost
a year now, without improvement...
I can confirm that the problem still persists in April 2008. The
'networkstatus' package is installed, but the 'Network Status Daemon' is
not listed in the 'Service Manager'.
