Got that error message while trying to upgrade from a fresh gutsy
installation (with all patches) to hardy.
A unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.
This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
As you can see below, after used "ed" logs out of a fully updated Gutsy
workstation, his trackerd, bonobo-activation-server, and firefox-3.0
processes remain.

My gut feeling is that this could be a buggy ACPI configuration. When
booting with your Ubuntu LiveCD, I suggest at the initial CD boot screen
after you have selected the appropriate language next press F6 then
cursor back and modifying the end of boot line from:
initrd=/casper/initr
This works for me now in Hardy with KDE 4.0.3 and can probably marked as
fix released.

FYI, I've found that using PEAR's Crypt_Blowfish class is a viable
workaround. Haven't investigated what the differences are between that
class and calling mcrypt_ directly, but it fixes the issues...

For the last week or so, whenever I've suspended and resumed my laptop,
network-manager has failed to pick up the wireless network again. I've
tried '/etc/dbus-1/event.d/25NetworkManager restart' but this makes no

The Error seems to be fixed today.
I switched from the German mirror to the main archive server and the upgrade
works like it should without any error message.

Using this script with the following commands totally fixed the shutdown
problem.
I leave this I found in the forums, maybe the developers can include it
to totally fix this BUG that it's present since Edgy.

Jonathan, is KDE Printing Manager patched to search for PPDs in
/usr/share/ppd instead of /usr/share/cups/model (or better in both)?
Otherwise Kubuntu users will not have access to any ready-made PPD.
