Yes, the beta works much better for me too. The only thing that I could
suggest adding is a tooltip that would popup whenever you are over a city as
I found it hard to choose the correct city. I knew I was in the right area
but had to click on a few before I found Edmonton.

This patch will fix it.
Cpus that share cpufreq settings have their cpufreq settings symlinked
together. What is happening is that we are saving several conflicting
cpufreq settings (depending on the number of cores that share the same
settings). The first time settings are saved for a given cpu
it would have been if I hadn't have reversed the logic and the patch. :(

The underlying problem seems to be that my HD had some blocks linked
twice or something of that sort. I believe the hard drive might be too
old already.

The former, Ubuntu with a RH kernel .. the only issue I see is unwanted

I just started getting this one, too. Yesterday and the day before, for
the first time ever, this occurred. After I'm automatically logged in,
I see an error dialog with:
There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon.
Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may
the problem still exists in hardy - but only that the dependencies of
xournal are not including xpdfreader (?)
the error message is the same - missing pdftoppm
but using synaptic it is possible to fix the problem.
therefore my guess: the dependencies in xournal are not complete.

Yes that's true the bug is still there but at least both packages are in
the repos... the fix seems a little closer.

I just tried the Hardy beta disk, downloaded yesterday.
I think the 8139too problem is resolved. However, the disk still doesn't
boot as a live CD on these laptops, because of the SDHCI module (see
numerous comments above). But I am pretty sure that 8139too got loaded
successfully first. Not posit

Again, I think this is something to do with your configuration settings
rather than the lirc package itself.
This bug is trying to address the lack of transmission support in the
current lirc package.
