I'm sorry I wasn't clear about that. You have it correct.
When I boot the system with the card in, the system recognizes the
card and it locks up.
The system boots fine without the card in, and once booted, the card
isn't recognized (I don't think - I can't use the card, anyhow).

I'm seeing this too in Debian/unstable (I dist-upgraded yesterday). It
happened twice after resuming from suspend. GPM was using a lot of RAM
and 122% of CPU :)
An additional problem I noticed was that I couldn't use my sound card
(e.g. XMMS said it's "busy") until I killed GPM.

It works out of box, but image is upside-down.

That's causing the problems. If that file is removed, then everything
goes back to the happy defaults from before (arial -> Deja Vu Sans,
etc.)

When an upload and download limit is set (well below the connection's
limits), transmission saturates the connection about once per second.
For general browsing, this is fine, but for latency sensitive
applications, it causes very disruptive hiccups.

Alex: Found it. In my version the tab is called "GNOME Keyring" that
allows you to change the master password. So also changed my user
password to be the same. So after re-booting only requires my user
password. Thanks.

Every time I reboot I get the sound volume back to 100%, but the sound
