I would also like to add Ubuntu 7.10 with default settings as having this issue
as well. The compiz.real thread was eatting ~50% of 512MB of ram. It is a
recent install, default "Normal" 3D settings, fully updated from the default
repositories (did not enable backports or pre-release). I will
