Update manage has just stolen the focus 3 times.

Ah, it's because you apparently uninstalled the b43-fwcutter package
again after enabling the driver. The current code considers the handler
to be enabled if the package is installed. This is the right thing to do
for other cases, but maybe not so much for the broadcom wifi driver.

Here is another workaround: Instead of using compiz, use the new
compositing mode of Metacity in Hardy. Go back to "no visual effects",
then execute "gconftool-2 -s --type bool
/apps/metacity/general/compositing_manager true". The effects are very
similar to "normal" mode, and it does not choke up

the libpcap-ruby1.8 does not seem to work with ppp devices.
I ran the example program /usr/share/doc/libpcap-
ruby1.8/examples/httpdump.rb on a computer that is connected with
Ethernet to a LAN, and it worked.

As far as I can tell, there's some kind of event that's triggered after
the lid is closed that lights up the screen. If I turn the screen off
using xset with a delay (something like "sleep 5; xset dpms force off")
and close the screen before the delay is up, it stays off.

Quite intrusive, but italc is new in hardy (in main at least), and only
used in Edubuntu, so it's largely Oliver's call (who is in favor of it).
So, I approve.
However, please do ping the doc team about the UI changes, in case they
already wrote documentation/screenshots about it.

fwiw, I've seen this intermittantly on a Thinkpad X40. It's certainly
not obviously reproducible for me and I've never noticed any pattern to
