with the open source "ati" driver and compiz ALWAYS worked very well
since Feisty.
According to a problem on some ati cards as reported in Bug #197135,
open source "ati" driver is going to be blacklisted
What did you guys do that it works now?
I upgraded to Teds gnome-power-manager - 2.22.0-0ubuntu1~ppa1 but

Yes, slow keys most probably was my "bug". I turned it on manually and
the behavior matches with what I experienced.
I had activation gestures turned on but had disabled all sounds, so I
didn't have any feedback when slow keys kicked in.

I just tried and I can still reproduce the crash. What I do:
1. Not have proprietary codecs installed.
2. Plug in removable device (MP3 Player).
3. (Rhythmbox opens and asks if you want to search for suitable codecs.)
4. Confirm. (Codecs are beings searched.)
5. Unmount removable device.
6. Close

I'd be willing to bet that if you check your xorg.conf files the refresh
rate on the modelines is too high. For example my settings used to be:

Editing the xorg.conf so that the only modeline available is:

When using 2 separate X screens with Vsync on, Compiz should honor each
screen's refreshrate independently. Instead it pushes a single refresh,
causing tearing on one of the screens when both screens are not in

I'm having similar problem.
When multiple smtp server's are listed and one is selected as default,
thunderbird doesn't use the default server even if there is one server
marked as default. I have to modify server address everytime when I'm
changing ISP / location(wlan). Annoying.
