For Ubuntu Gutsy there is a workaround. By installing compiz-settings-
manager you can then go into System->Preferences->Advanced Desktop
Effects Settings, If you do an advanced search for legacy, you will see
a setting called "Legacy Fullscreen Support". Uncheck it and then you
can use the key seq

It can't be built in Ubuntu because pigment-python still need to be
accepted; we'll also need the elisa-plugins-{bad,good,ugly} new source
packages accepted and built against python-elisa before elisa is
installable in hardy again.

What happens if you change your resolution with System - Preferences - Screen
Resolution? Does it still show the correct resolution after X logout and
relogin?
Maybe your wrong resolution happens because of changes in the
gnome-display-properties.
