When you cat a binary file that contains data that looks like an escape
sequence, the terminal interprets it as if it came from a program.

Same thing happens with a VMWare image when it is cloned. A new MAC
address gets generated, the new interface is created by udev, and the
old (stale) eth0 sits there for all time. The result is that the newly
cloned VM can't access the network until 70-persistent-net.rules is
manually fixed.

Sorry for the delayed response. The Hardy Heron Alpha series is
currently under development and contains an updated version of the
kernel. It would be helpful if you could test the latest Hardy Alpha
release: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing . You should be able to then
test the new ker

and opening a .qti-file in nautilus brings up a web browser. The start of a
.qti-file seems to be:
$ head -n 2 foo.qti

Yes, it would be linux if the driver used was the one included in linux (the
kernel), which it probably was in Heron (as rt61 driver is included in the
2.6.24 version normally).
The thing is that even serialmonkey developers point out the version included
in the kernel is "somewhat buggy" (at l

I just tried suspend with the radeonhd driver and it works. As I said,
I expected quite some crashes with fglrx (and it breaks suspend) so I
recommend removing it.

With xserver-xorg-input-joystick and a joystick plugged in, X keeps
restarting and then dies. But this only happens with a joystick plugged
in. Without any joystick, X starts like it should but when I plugg it in
nothing happen

on an LVM logical volume backed by a software raid5 device. There's also
two IPSEC tunnels setup with racoon and quite complicated iptables
