I agree that it is probably not nautilus directly. I suspect it is more
probably due to the "udev" or "volumeid" change. But I could not revert
these two and apparently reverting nautilus (and "libvolume-id0") was
enough to stop it triggering the fault.

same problem here, while copying local -> smb://
This problem should be marked critical as it occurs in a "daily" function and
renders the system unusable after the memory usage reaches the memory maximum.
unmounting the automatic made smb:// share returns the occupied memory from
gvfs-smb.

I have found out that it is Compiz that is at fault here. When I
switched desktop-effects off, the screen reverts to normal blue borders.
when switching to 'normal' or 'extra' the borders go red again.

I have this problem on my system as well. I use the radeonhd driver. It
goes away if I set /apps/gnome-settings-daemon/plugins/xrandr/active and
/apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/xrandr/active both to false (perhaps

If you still have energy to try things out, my advice would be to burn
CDs of previous versions of ubuntu (down to edgy) and try the mic with
