recent (since around 2.6.24.5, but I could be mistaken) linux-
restricted-modules-generic packages are apparently providing an nvidia
kernel module that cannot load, instead giving the following error:

explicitly tell it so (which doesn't seem to be the case for you). Can
you please install jockey again and do
